Headspace Analysers

Quality Control for Modified Atmosphere Packages (MAP)

PBI-Dansensor offers three different solutions for quality control of the headspace in food packages, beverage bottles or pharmceutical products. With our handheld headspace analyser we offer an easy to use entry level product that meets the basic requirement for residual oxygen measurement in the food industry. The handheld CheckPoint is a simple and robust headspace analyser at an affordable price.

A perfect workflow
The latest addition to our program is the CheckPoint II - a portable quality control instrument. The CheckPoint II gives QC managers a valuable tool to ensure that all important data of the MAP production is easily stored centrally.

Easy traceability
For larger production facilities and customers with a demand for high accuracy quality control PBI-Dansensor suggests our CheckMate II. The CheckMate II covers any need for documentation and traceability of products packed in modified atmosphere. With the CheckMate II it is possible to set up a complete workflow for headspace testing of packages, bottles and pharmaceuticals. With the easy to use bar code option it is possible to collect almost any vital data such as batch number, packaging line, package type and even operator name.

A recommendation about oxygen measurement in high carbon dioxide concentrations
Both the CheckPoint, CheckPoint II and CheckMate II offers CO2 testing as well, giving the option to ensure that the gas mix in the package is correct. However, carbon dioxide can have an effect on the oxygen content measurement in instruments using an electrochemichal oxygen sensor (like the CheckPoint). This means that in applications with a CO2 content of 25-65% PBI-Dansensor always recommends a CheckPoint O2/CO2 as this instrument is able to compensate for the CO2 content - thus giving a more accurate oxygen reading. A feature which, to our knowledge, is not available in any other portable instrument on the market. In applications where the CO2 content is higher that 65% and a high accuracy oxygen concentration is still needed we suggest considering the CheckMate II with Zirconia oxygen sensor as this sensor technology is not affected by the carbon dioxide content.
